Visit www.WBCH.org for the latest on William Byrd Community House’ early childhood education programs including Extended Day in the fall and Summer Camp now! And SAVE THE DATE, August 22nd, for our annual CARNIVAL! event. Entirely FREE come an enjoy games, rides, great snacks, a field for running and a great opportunity to celebrate the agency’s good work and our neighborhood’s great vibe. Did you know it is National Blueberry Month? Check out all this good info on Blueberries – recipes, activities, health benefits…

What you can pick up and make quick for supper tonight?
Snack on the cool fruits of summer – blueberries, blackberries, carrots, cucumbers, melons, cherry or sungold tomatoes – just rinse, chop and chomp.
Cool corn and sweet red pepper salad, garnished with dill, ground pepper.
Time for a homemade minestrone (filled with all the bounty of summer veggies) or chilled potato leek soup.
Tempest tossed salad of tender greens with cantaloupe chunks and sizzling sausage slices. Squeeze a little orange over it and and black pepper.
Never quite sure how to use herbs or spices (or both!?!). This site has great ideas and actual information…

The ingrdients are so simple and you only need a blender: olive oil, Basil leaves, garlic, parmesan cheese – optional walnuts, pinenuts or almonds. Here’s a nice variation using sundried tomatoes: Tomato Pesto
