Perhaps instead of raising taxes and fees, the City should fine developers and other entities when they suddenly close streets without advanced warning.

RPD: Gunwoman Closes Lee Bridge; UPDATE: Resolved Peacefully
Various news outlets are still covering this, but Richmond Police Department says a woman with a gun near the Virginia War Memorial led to the Lee Bridge being closed this morning.
Update: The situation has been resolved peacefully and the woman has been taken to the hospital for mental evaluation.
Street Closure June 9-12 For High School Graduations

N. Laurel Street between W. Main Street & S. Cathedral Pl. will be CLOSED June 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th. The hours of closure for each day will be from 1 PM to 6:30 PM. There will be No Parking permitted in this location during these dates & times. Altria Theater will be having High School Graduations on those days.
Parking Restrictions For Funeral Tomorrow
Neighbors on the 400 block of S. Pine between Albemarle & Spring Street AND the 700 block of Albemarle between S. Pine & S. WHEN: Saturday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE: West Cary Street between South Harrison and South Linden streets (located in the 5th Council District)
BACKGROUND: The area will be closed to use a crane to perform HVAC work at 1000 West Cary Street. Motorists are urged to use caution and follow the detour signs.
Prepare For Monument Avenue 10K Traffic

Thousands of participants will take to the city streets on Saturday morning for the much anticipated Monument Avenue 10K. There will be numerous road closures and “No Parking” zones will be in effect beginning as early as tomorrow, April 11.
Events begin at 8 a.m. with the Virginia 529 Kids Run followed by the start of the Monument Avenue 10K at 8:30 a.m. North Laurel Street between W. Franklin Street and Cathedral Place road closure and “No Parking” zone will go in effect tomorrow. Additional road closures will go into effect early Friday morning. Cars parked along the race course will be towed. A complete list of times and dates are attached.
During the event, Monument Avenue will be closed between Stuart Circle and Staples Mill Road. Portions of other main streets will also be closed, including West Broad Street, West Grace Street, West Franklin Street and Lombardy Street. (See maps below.)

Accident At Idlewood And Cherry This Morning
Street Cleaning This Week – Move Those Cars!
It looks like the City is doing street cleaning in the neighborhood this week. According to the signs, they will be starting with the west side of S. Laurel Street tomorrow. Don’t forget to move cars the night before.
Cherry Street neighbor Jimmy Blackford is organizing some sidewalk cleaning to go along with the street cleaning.
Oregon Hill Street Cleaning/Leaf Collection Finally Happens Next Week. (Mon. 1/28-Thurs 1/31). Who can join me on Mon. and/or Tues. Morning to get our pretty brick sidewalks extra free of leaves? I’ll start the raking at 10am on Monday morning. (Maybe earlier depending on how much sleep I get the night before). I’ll concentrate on the intersections and heavily leaf-strewn areas of the sidewalks. Pushbrooms, especially extra wide ones, are a huge help. I only have 2 rakes, so…
