New Stop Signs In Consideration

Oregon Hill is once again looking at possibly changing traffic patters as a new proposal is being weighed at City Council’s Land Use, Housing, and Transportation Committee.

Ordinance 2019-147 reads:
To erect all-way stop signs at the intersections of Spring Street and South Pine Street, Spring Street and South Laurel Street, Albemarle Street and South Laurel Street, and Albemarle Street and South Cherry Street, with a painted stop line at each intersection.

This follows neighbors’ discussion with City Councilperson Parker Agelasto’s office in regard to continued concerns about traffic safety. To quickly recap, neighbors originally requested all-way stop signs at Spring and Laurel and Spring and Pine, but agreed to try changing more intersections’ stop sign direction, now that concerns have continued, all-stops are being reconsidered.

Street Cleaning Continues Monday

Thanks to a neighbor’s persistence, the City is planning to clean the west side of S. Pine Street this coming Monday after missing in their regular schedule.

Neighbors should make sure to remove their cars from the west side of S. Pine Street (even street numbers) before MONDAY at 8:00am so the street can be cleaned!

Stop Sign Update

From a Holly Street neighbor:

After contacting the police about so many vehicles running the stop sign at Oregon Hill Parkway and Pine St, they sent out an engineer to look at it. They got back to me today with a summary:
The RPD traffic division has contacted the Department of Public Works regarding the traffic issues you brought to our attention. Together, they have devised the following plan of action:
– Oregon Hill Pkwy and Pine St
o DPW plans to place a stop bar and improve the placement of the stop sign.
– Holly and Pine
o DPW will place a stop ahead sign and replace the stop sign for the eastbound movement

A Good First Year For The Open High Fall Festival

While the morning was a bit droopy after last night’s rain, and I am sorry more neighbors did not take advantage, Open High’s Fall Festival was still a solid hit.

There was lots of great different kinds of chili for the chili-cook-off.

Tyler Meacham was one of the amazing musicians performing…here she does one of her own songs…

At any rate, here’s hoping that this tradition grows… perhaps next year the L’OPossum/OregonHil.net Jack-O-Lantern Contest can be incorporated into the festival…
