Perhaps instead of raising taxes and fees, the City should fine developers and other entities when they suddenly close streets without advanced warning.
Pita Pit signed a lease in recent weeks to take about 900 square feet in the 805W project – a four-story, 100-unit apartment development with about 8,000 square feet of ground floor space – that’s under construction at 805 W. Cary St.

N. Laurel Street between W. Main Street & S. Cathedral Pl. will be CLOSED June 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th. The hours of closure for each day will be from 1 PM to 6:30 PM. There will be No Parking permitted in this location during these dates & times. Altria Theater will be having High School Graduations on those days.
A neighbor reported that about 8 cars were sideswiped on the 500 block of Laurel St at 1:10 am this morning. The incident left debris all over the street. Another neighbor saw through his house window a white SUV speed off. Police were alerted nothing official yet.
