REMINDER!

We will be closed regular hours this week Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 18th, for Painting and some light renovations.
We will be around likely with some stuff out front for limited hours, and we would love to see y’all. Please understand the whole shop won’t be open until Saturday the 19th, but we have some special stuff set aside to make up for being closed a few days!
Vinyl Conflict has been open since 2008 and this is the first time we’ve taken a couple days to put on a fresh coat of paint.

Article On Shop Switchover

Writer Nick Michon has an article on the website Richmond2Day.com about the changes on the corner of Laurel Street and Albemarle Street- here are the opening paragraphs:

Death has paid Oregon Hill a visit. Gone are the frilly flowers that once graced the now defunct Bunnyhop Bike Shop on the corner of Albemarle in exchange for the towering scythe wielded by the Reaper himself. The entire building has transformed to black, and Justin Torone and Alaina Gearhart are to blame.

While the new mural in progress by Sure Hand Signs may paint a grim scene, Torone and Gearhart’s business Rest In Pieces is taking on a newfound life of its own. The couple entered the world of oddities through Gearhart’s preexisting love for strange artifacts like skulls and preserved creatures.

Some of you already know, but it’s finally official. Rest in Pieces is moving to Oregon Hill. The new location is significantly larger, and will give us the space we need to continue to grow. We want to personally say thank you to each and every one of you, YOU made this possible. We’re sad to be leaving our spot in the fan, but it’s time to move onto bigger things. This move is scary. But if it doesn’t scare you, it’s not worth doing. We’ve been hoarding inventory and fixtures for months in preparation for this, and we cannot wait to share what we have in store for you guys.

Clara Cline at The Wild Wander has these fantastic Boy Gangs of Richmond patches available. Pick’em up at this weekend’s Richmond Craft Mafia Handmade Holiday event.

The names are taken from Charles Wallace’s The Boy Gangs of Richmond in the Dear Old Days: A Page of the City’s Lesser History, an out-of-print history of the city’s rapscallion youth by Charles M. Wallace from 1938.

‘Dream Delivery’ Service

If you see a guy on a bicycle riding around Richmond in the middle of the night, dropping off dreams on people’s doorsteps, don’t be alarmed.
It’s just a dream delivery service.
And Mathias Svalina is the dream deliveryman.
Svalina is a poet who’s returning to Richmond to deliver dreams by hand in the middle of the night. The dreams are surrealist, prose poems that cover everything from drinking a beer with actor Tom Skerritt to knitting a complicated sweater.
“I try to write a unique dream for everybody every day,” Svalina said from his temporary digs in Oregon Hill. “On a good day, I can write up to 40 dreams a day. Then I deliver them from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.”
