Police said the incident happened when the three men approached another adult male and robbed him at gunpoint.
The incident happened in the 500 block of South Laurel Street sometime between 7:30 and 7:40 p.m.
Police said the men stole several personal items from the man before running away.
No injuries occurred during the robbery.
I know there have been one or two robberies on the 500 block in years past, especially a decade or so ago when there were vacant plots or houses, but this seems really weird.
In the past muggers have been driving and have pulled alongside or in front of victims, mostly late at night, but this sounds like this crime was performed on foot in the early evening.
Decades ago there were almost random attacks by packs of neighborhood juveniles, but those were not usually robberies and those troublemakers seem out of the neighborhood and long gone.
Again, more info would be appreciated.
