Neighborhood Businesses During The UCI Bike Race

Cary Street restaurant Dinamo is working with local Ardent Craft Ales and international bicycle company Rapha to throw what is essentially a party during the upcoming UCI Bicycle Race.

Mamma Zu’s will be closed for its annual vacation during the UCI Bicycle Race.

Music store Vinyl Conflict will also close during the race.

The City’s Main Street library will be closed, as their facility will be used by race organizers.

What are other neighborhood businesses doing while the race is happening?

  1. From Bobby:

Vinyl Conflict Record Store will only be closed
MONDAY the 21st to WEDNESDAY 23rd. (ONLY THREE DAYS)
We will be open business as usual otherwise. The only recommendations I can make to our customers is to go by foot or bicycle, as the streets will be all screwed up.

  2. Just received this-

Post Office Operations Continue During UCI Road World Bike Races

RICHMOND, VA – All Post Offices in the Richmond District (comprised of ZIP Codes beginning with 228 through 239 and 244) will remain open for business during the UCI Road World Bicycle Championships, Sept. 19-27, 2015.

Post Offices which may be impacted by the race will conduct business in as normal a manner as possible. Some access delays or detours may be encountered by customers. Some roads will be cordoned off during the races requiring you to access your Post Office by means of a back alley or roadway at certain times or on certain days.

All Post Office retail and delivery operations are scheduled to proceed. Some blue collection boxes may be pinned and taken out of service during race week: these boxes will have notices affixed to them advising customers that they are out of service. Short delays or access problems may occur in some cases, but we are working with law enforcement and race authorities and are assured that the movement of the mail and customer access to postal services will remain a high priority. Detailed information on specific races, closures and detours can be found on the race website http://www.Richmond2015.com.

For customers within the City of Richmond, nearby Post Offices which are not affected by race activity include West End Post Office at 2220 Dabney Road, Richmond 23230; the Richmond Main Post Office at 1801 Brook Road, Richmond 23232; and Westhampton Post Office, 805 Glenburnie Road, Richmond 23227. Customers with a need for retail services are invited to use these locations to avoid access difficulties or delays. The Richmond Main Post Office and the Westhampton Post Office also feature Self-Service Kiosks at which most retail services available at the window can be found. At the Self-Service Kiosk customers can access services such as renewing PO Boxes, purchasing stamps, weighing packages and calculating postage for Priority Express Mail, Priority Mail, and First-Class Mail. All Self-Service Kiosks accept debit and credit cards only. In addition, many services available at the Post Office are available online 24/7 at http://www.usps.com. Customers served by the Hanover Post Office and Atlee Post Office may wish to schedule their postal business to avoid race times; or they may choose to use Ashland Post Office at 301 England Street, 23005, or Mechanicsville Main Post Office at 8050 Mechanicsville Turnpike, 23111.

All Business Mail Entry Units (BMEUs) will remain open as scheduled and customers should drop their mail at the BMEU they normally use.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
