The sign is back.

From neighbor Todd Woodson:

Sad to report, as of Monday, nov 4, 2013, VCU has reinstalled this huge way faring sign at w main and Belvidere, obstructing sight lines through Richmonds oldest and most historic city park. This arrogant move serves as a prelude to the proposed turnover of this beautiful sylvan asset, which belongs to the citizenry of Richmond. Please contact your city council representative if you disapprove.

  1. Many of us remember that it wasn’t that long ago that VCU tried to take ownership of Monroe Park, describing it as their potential “quad”. It took considerable protest to stop VCU’s plan of cutting upwards of 30 mature trees, and claiming our oldest city park. At the last OHNA meeting we mentioned to the VCU liaison that these “billboard” type signs were not appropriate for our historic city-owned areas, and yet a week later another sign was erected by our cherished park. This gross insensitivity by VCU must be addressed.
