The City workers were busy this past week, putting in a new railing and some new sidewalk sections along Riverside Drive and the Overlook. They have finished most of the work before the incoming storm.

Gentrification!
I just got back from walking my dog and two of the horizontal beams are already gone. I didn’t see them nearby, I’m hoping they are in the hands of the city rather than at the scrapyard. It also seems that several of the other horizontal beams “slipped” or fell or were jumped on or something. Half of them were out of place. I have a hard time imagining how the forces of the storm this (long) weekend could have done that to the railing but I guess it’s possible.
I must say that that I don’t think that I have ever seen such incredibly cheap construction. The hollow horizontal bars are just clamped on. It doesn’t look like some of them lasted a week.
