Blogger extraordinaire C. Wayne Taylor has post up now on City Hall Review that evidently quotes a city official.
“I don’t have any documentation on emergency access conditions in the area of the proposed Second Street Connector. I checked with Lory Markham and she doesn’t either.”

This raises more questions about the motivation, need, and the rush to create this new street, which would intersect or go over the canal.
This street has been discussed for at least 5 years, probably much more. Let me guess Scott, you’re suggesting a corporate conspiracy theory here?
Discussed where and with who in the last 5 years?
As previously posted, my neighbors have questions and concerns about this.
5 years if about the right about of time to get things done in Richmond, 10 is more like it.
During the festival I was able to talk to several people near the now cleared ‘proposed’ area for the 2nd street connector road…they had no idea and were interested in more info. I directed them to this website and the only article from the times dispatch online. My impression from most people is why didnt they hear about this decision, what impact it would have on the area and new traffic issues. One person was even concerned about the 100 year old elm tree that sits right next to the new ‘proposed’ site. 5 years to get things done…in that span of time, no information given to the public, no environmental impact studies..thats a long time to not get these things done.
Speaking of ‘plans’…
