I did not realize it at the time I wrote the previous Irene recovery post, but most if not all of the Overlook condos have also lost power due to Hurricane Irene and still do not have the utility. It is somewhat frustrating because they can literally see the Dominion Resources headquarters, which does have power.
One Overlook resident remarked on her FaceBook page:
I can see the power HQ 200 feet from my house. They have power! Who has a really long extension cord I can borrow? :0)
Of course, you know what I am going to say- the Overlook development, with all that collective roof space, should go solar. Other communities with their condo associations are doing this and it can be easily done incrementally by starting with just a few townhouses.

Apparently the cobblers children do not go shoeless in this instance! Scott, I think it would be quite comical to show up, walk into their lobby with a heavy duty extension cord on a spool, plug into the nearest outlet and walk out unspooling as you go. If you could get enough cord you could run it all the way to your house. Now that would make a statement.
Bob, I don’t know if I can find an extension cord that will work for that. Keep in mind that I do give Dominion credit for updating the grid earlier this year, thus sparing much of the neighborhood from power loss from this storm. But yeah, as you know, citizens need to keep the pressure on for even better service.
I believe grid power service was returned to all Oregon Hill residences yesterday afternoon. Thanks to Dominion for their work.
