A lot of people come to Oregon Hill’s Mamma Zu for its Italian cuisine, but this week there are a couple of benefit dinners elsewhere to enjoy also.
One is the previously mentioned William Byrd Community House spaghetti dinner at Perly’s on Thursday, Feb. 17.
Another is one for the All The Saints Theater Company this coming Friday. For more info, click here. Remember, All The Saints are the folks who help organize the annual Halloween parade that goes through Oregon Hill.
Here’s some info:
All the Saint’s Spaghetti Dinners act dually as a grassroots cabaret and as a means to feed the community with culture, community and yummy food! The diversity of the shows parallels the diversity of the audience. The dinner features experimental theater, political and surrealist puppetry, dance, poetry, and good ol’ cardboard madness!
Appetizer: Music by local old time fun time guru, Josh Bearman playing with the best accordionist in Richmond, street musician, Cayman! Served with delicious vegan sicilian spaghetti, spinach, bread and aiolli.
Main Course: Bread & Puppet’s Decapilization Cabaret! A whole new edition of Bread & Puppet Theater’s cabaret series features acts both comic and dead serious.
The Decap Accordion and String ensemble will provide soothing sounds for winter weary nerves. Also, music by local vocal sweetheart, Alison Self!
And a breakdancing treat from Asheville!
So go outside enjoy the slightly warmer weather for this week and work up an appetite.
