Got a tip/rumor about possible school news:
Are you guys up on the merger of Clark Springs and Maymont? My spouse attended a meeting whereby the the Richmond Public Schools official discussed plans to convert Maymont into a PreK center. Just wondering if you guys were on top of it. I’d like to discuss… share… whatever, a little more if you’re up for it.

Another point to ponder: As proposed, Maymont’s current principal Wilma Battle would be in charge of both Clark Springs Elementary AND the new VPI program at Maymont. As this article pointed out, Battle had a history of failure before arriving at Maymont, and I understand that the “success” of Maymont thus far has been despite rather than because of her presence. Ask the former Patrick Henry parents whether they’d send their kids to a Battle-run school again.
I suspect this is a done deal with the School Board, but I do hope lots of people will show up and give the powers that be an earful.
