A large fire below Hollywood Cemetery – this picture was taken from above Oregon Hill Parkway looking west…hopefully its just debris and brush and no one is hurt. Police and fire crews arrived on scene after going through neighborhood, trying to find best access…
Yea,
heard firetrucks around the area but didn’t think anything big happened. Then a friend called and informed me that there was a HUGE fire by my place. She said that if you were to look towards Dominion from the bridge, the fire appeared to be very big and is growing rapidly. From the way I see it, it’s hard to put out that fire since it is on the river level and the only way to get firetrucks close enough down there is to go through the cemetery and through a fenced area where there’s a dirt road. Hoping and praying that no one got hurt. Wish there was breaking news footage of the fire from the bridge or by helicopter to see what happened. Good job Scott for catching that photo, I ventured out to see what happened around the same time you posted this.
I don’t know – those were some substantial flames. I thought maybe one of those large buildings on the north shore just west of the Lee Bridge was on fire. As should be expected, local news has nothing about it on their sites yet.

this seems like a pretty big deal to not be covered anywhere else? am i missing something. hope everyone is safe.
Looks like the burn site was a part of the north bank trail previously infested with kudzu… Chance to restore the natural landscape??
