From a neighbor….
tonite about 10:30PM RPD in what seems to be pursuit of a small truck
going south (wrong way) on S Cherry street. Truck loses control and
hits tree in 200 block S Cherry and driver gets out and runs. Police
swarm all over the place with many cruisers, briefly closing 200
block S Cherry. Not sure if suspect apprehended. This is just what appeared to have occurred and not official police
record.
Richmond Police did capture the man and officers charged him with numerous felonies related to theft in the area.

I live on 200 block, I walked out of my neighbors house just as this truck hit the handicap parking sign in front of Byrd and rolled down the sidewalk (3 houses worth) to hit this tree. Didn’t touch any of the other cars luckily, just our recycling.
Cops SWARMED and were speeding all over the place down Cherry and Idlewood. Apparently the guy bailed out and ran behind the Byrd House but they caught him somewhere behind it.
Around thirty minutes later there were a ton of cops at Cherry/Laurel and Main, not sure if that was related.
