But first, imagine what used to be on the Festival site- the Gamble’s Hill park and neighborhood and part of Oregon Hill neighborhood, the State Penitentiary, the functioning Tredegar Iron Works and working Kanawha Canal.
Hopefully the Richmond Folk Festival has proven somewhat sustainable (I know I volunteered and dropped my donation in the bucket!) and we will enjoy for years to come. But keep in mind there could be other new developments on the site, like the new Meade WestVAco headquarters. Personally, I keep hoping that the Richmond Transportation Museum idea can be dusted off…
Anyway, on with the photos from a great weekend…
Great event as always. Wasn’t able to make it down Saturday due to sick child but enjoyed Friday and Sunday. As another volunteer I have to say if you enjoy the festival you should volunteer. It doesn’t take that much time and helps so much. The festival doesn’t happen without a ton of help both corporate and individual. Kudos to all the performers, volunteers and sponsors.
It would have been nice to have a police presence in OH especially on Pine St to deter the many people who wanted to avoid a $5 parking fee at the residence expense.
Outside of that the festival seemed to run very well.
