From Craigslist:
My light blue Schwinn Madison fixed gear was taken from inside my house on the evening of Friday, April 3 in Oregon Hill. The bicycle is 3 months old, so it looks new. If you have any information, or see anybody riding a bike that doesn’t belong to them, or whatever. Please send any information to me. There is only one other that I am aware of within the city. But the other bike as straight handles and a white rear deep v. Mine is exactly like the image below. If you find anything, please tell me. Any help is greatly appreciated. And there will be a reward if it turns up. Thanks for your time.
Has anyone ever found their lost bike in this city?
Has anyone seen my job? I seem to have lost that somewhere ’round Richmond…
I have but you would not want it afterward well the left over parts they dump on trails that is
Hey Scott,
So sorry to hear of your misfortune. I know the conventional thinking is stolen bikes are not found. Don’t let that get you down. Be sure to report the crime to the P.D. and stop in all the bike shops to make them aware. By and large bike thieves don’t ride, they dump the bike for fast cash to support their habit(s). Check pawn shops, second hand stores and the like.
If nothing else your experience may sound the clarion call for others. While the two wheel community may be fracured along road/dirt and/or fixed/geared lines, one thing we can all rally around is preventing bike theft and helping stolen bikes find their way back to their rightful owners. Please, don’t ever consider purchasing a bike whose ownership is in question. If we eliminate the market for stolen bikes (and other merchandise) we’ll eliminate stolen bikes.
Best wishes,
Crowley
